So exploring Taiwan I found an extremely impressive place: Chiang Kai-sek Memorial Hall, 國立中正紀念堂. It consists of three buildings and a beautiful surrounding areas. Here are some pictures and descriptions.

Chiang Kai-sek Memorial Hall

The Memorial Hall is the most visited place in Taiwan by tourists. That being said, everything around it is so nice. The train terminal was an art gallery.

The exit was even very elaborate

The first building that I encountered was the national theater. It is a beautiful building where they hold a lot of important concerts. In the basement they have fancy jewels shops and a ritzy buffet.

The fancy restaurant in the basement

Across from the theater is a recital hall.

Also very cool looking

However, the building that was most awe inspiring to me was the Memorial itself. It is huge and elaboratly decorated. It was built in the 1980's.

The stairs

The backside

The inside was really cool. They had a bunch of old photographs and artifacts from his live. It was like a spread out story book. It was designed very well. I enjoyed learning more about the man the Taiwanese consider the father of their nation.

His bullet proof car

The sedan chairs that were used to carry him around. Wouldn't that be nice?

Pictures of him with American presidents.

Pictures of different phases of his life.

there was a lot more. I just chose a few to show you all. The most impressive part of the hall though is the big statue of him. It is kind of like the Lincoln Memorial for Taiwanese people.

The roof was also very cool

The surrounding area was also very beautiful. Here are just a few pictures of the different paths, plants, etc.

The gardens were well kept with and formed into designs. There were also nice walking paths. It was funny to see lots of old men speed walking.

There was also a scenic little lake complete with a very Chinese style bridge.

Also throughout the paths were scattered very interesting plants

There were lots of birds, butterflies, and other animals

I had a very nice time and was very impressed.

Singing In Chinese

So, as part of my course work they have supplementary classes. You choose to go but at the same time must have a certain amount of hours. So, today I went to one called Singing in Chinese. I felt silly but karaoke is a huge part of their culture and it was a fun way to learn new words. We sang three songs from three famous pop stars. They are all about relationships.

一首簡單的歌

王力宏

A Simple Song by LeeHom Wang

I really liked this one. It has a very deep meaning and wasn't too hard to sing. It is about simple things, like writing a little song, and how they can be very deep and meaningful.

This next song was a riot! Very funny but also an interesting way of looking at relationships.

Lemon Tree
蘇慧倫

The music video was a little strange but it is about a girl who is bitter towards her significant other for being non-nonchalant and open with their relationship

猜不透  I can't guess
丁噹
.

This video is also funny, mostly because of the acting. Skip the first part that is dialog. This song is about a girl who is in a relationship with a guy that keeps her guessing and changes the way he acts towards her. so, she can't guess how he really feels.

Well, that is all for now. I hope you guys enjoy. Please leave any comments and suggestions.
