Typhoon Soulik
I survived a typhoon. I was fortunate that it wasn't too big
and when it was it was nighttime. I was
at home in my bed. Trying to sleep and
praying the rood wouldn't fly off. I
thought for sure it would. It was so loud! I felt the walls move. It was kind
of scary but I survived. There weren't too many fatalities. I heard of a couple of cases. It’s a pity.
Mostly in Taipei the only damage that can be seen are messy streets and fallen
streets. Here are a few pictures I took near my apartment.
Taiwan’s Party World
This entire building is dedicated to karaoke!
On a positive note, to ensure the protection of its citizens
Taiwan mandates that school and companies stop operation on typhoon days. So,
my roommate and a few of my friends did not have to work on Saturday. So we
decided to go to PARTY WORLD! They call it K-TV. Basically it is really cool karaoke.
You rent out a room with a karaoke machine and cool TV. They bring and water
(warm water of course because it is good for your singing voice).
The fancy lobby
Drinking hot water. You can also see the touch screen machine.
Cool microphone covers! Sanitary and fun!
Anyway, it was so fun! We sang for about 5 hours. I sang one
Chinese song and some English songs like Sweet Home Alabama, Tears in
Heaven, Viva La Vida, and others. It was quite fun to experience their
music. Below is just a little taste of what Taiwanese people like.
Watch this! Never has exercise been so amusing.
Almost died laughing!
A stretch mini-cooper?
Not sure what Olalahuhu means but it sure is fun to sing!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy getting a glimpse at Taiwan music/culture.
